Fantastic tips. Looking forward to more tutorials on ilo2 please :).

Would be nice to see how much of these things were possible on hardware from Dell or IBM.

Alan,

Thank you very much for the feedback! I have updated the blog entry with the correct ilo-startvsp script. (I had inadvertently included an older version before). You are also correct that I am using hostnames for the iLO IP's and have them in my /etc/hosts file (not DNS yet). I've also corrected Example 3 to match the conserver config. I *really* should proofread these blog entries!

Cheers!

Thanks for this info - we're in the process of installing multiple HP blade chassis and your post is very timely.

I have a few questions.

In your examples you have the initcmd set to 'initcmd "/usr/local/etc/ilo-startvsp";' - Is separate from the ilo-vsplogin expect script?

You mention gathering up the iLo IP's but then seem to use hostnames (DNS A record?) to access the iLo via ssh. The execsubst string uses console name so it would seem that you've set up the DNS entry to match the console name. Is that correct?

The example console names "ilo1", etc. don't match the name used in Example 3. Is there some substitution there that's not obvious that allows the console command to match "fusion-ilo1" to the conserver.cf entry for "ilo1"?
